FAQ

FAQ

What should I do in a medical emergency if I don’t speak the local language?
If you cannot communicate in the local language, you should call the 24/7 assistance number found on your insurance card, mobile app, or member portal. I recommend saving this number in your phone or keeping your insurance card with you at all times. This service is specifically designed for these situations and allows you to speak in the language of your choice. The assistance team will arrange transport to the hospital and, if necessary, translate your symptoms for the doctors.
I never go to the doctor; do I still need international insurance?
Yes. Even if you rarely visit a GP, you are not immune to medical emergencies or accidents (food poisoning, fractures, etc.). It is imperative to have a policy that at least covers hospitalization, ensuring that ambulance transport and day-patient care are included. I am here to guide you through the various options.
Do I have to pay upfront?
Generally, all international policies provide direct payment for hospitalizations. For other expenses, such as GP visits or pharmacy costs, it depends on your specific plan and the country you are in. If you do have to pay upfront, I select insurers that offer reimbursements within 48 hours via digital services (uploading invoices through an app) to make the process as easy as possible. My role is to direct you toward the most optimized contract.
Can I give birth abroad with my insurance?
Yes, but be mindful of waiting periods (moratoriums). Most expat contracts have a waiting period of 10 to 12 months before maternity costs are covered. This means you must take out the option before the pregnancy begins. I can help you find the best solution for your family plans.
What happens in case of a chronic illness or pre-existing condition?
When applying for a long-term contract, a medical questionnaire is usually required. Depending on the situation, the insurer may cover your pre-existing conditions (sometimes with an additional premium) or apply an exclusion. It is essential to declare your health status to ensure the validity of your coverage.
